Ingredients

    beef flank steak (2 lb./900 g)

  • 1

    bottle

    (355 mL) beer

  • 1

    cup

    Heinz Tomato Ketchup

  • 1

    cup

    HP Sauce Original

  • 1/4

    cup

    packed brown sugar

  • 1/4

    cup

    Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 1/4

    cup

    Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce

  • 3

    green onions, thinly sliced

  • 1/2

    tsp

    crushed red pepper


Instructions

  1. Step 1

    Make shallow cross-cuts in both sides of steak; place in shallow dish.

  2. Step 2

    Mix remaining ingredients until blended. Reserve 1 cup tomato sauce mixture for later use; pour remaining tomato sauce mixture over steak. Turn to evenly coat both sides of steak. Refrigerate overnight to marinate.

    Bring reserved tomato sauce mixture to boil in saucepan; simmer on medium-low heat 30 min. or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Cool. Meanwhile, heat barbecue to medium heat.

  4. Step 4

    Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade. Grill steak 7 to 8 min. on each side or until medium doneness (160ºF). Transfer steak to cutting board; cover with foil. Let stand 10 min.

    Cut steak across the grain into thin slices. Serve topped with tomato sauce mixture.
